Everyone has a different strategy to win an online poker tournament, but there are also lots of people that don't have a strategy. Some people just play and eventually get fed up and look online for solutions. Don't worry I was there and from time to time still go. Online tournaments can be tedious this is why i stick to sit n go games. They are slightly easier to be consistent, less scammy, and you can bank on them.

In a sit n go tournament, you should stick by your own written strategy. This may be playing aggressive at one time and tight on another. Regardless, you need to be consistent in order to win an online poker tournament.

I have learned a good strategy from a pro that has helped me in many cases when playing online. In general it is play tight, and then eventually loosen up and get aggressive. Play in stages; early, middle, late. This is in reference to the blind structure. The early stages are the low blinds, the middle stages are the increasing blinds, and the late is when the blinds are high and just a few hand can easily knock someone out.

In a nut shell you want to play tight in the beginning, loosen up during the increasing blinds, and at the late stage play more aggressive. For the other players, they will play totally opposite. They will play loose in the beginning, and get tighter as the time passes hoping for security with the chips they have at this time.
Play your position and raise when necessary. You will know when to let loose as time passes. Don't be afraid of these small sit n gos as the more you play the better and more adapted you will become.
