There are three most basic guidelines to find a good helper addon for quests.
* Know their basic purpose
You must know that the basic purpose of the quest helper is to help you finish you quests quickly and efficiently. They should aid you in leveling your character. It should have a whole data base of different monsters and quests and it should help you calculate the fastest routes to finish all of your quests. this will stop you from running around aimlessly and getting lost all the time. While some addons have maps, the World of Warcraft is not a flat world, it has towers and underground lairs and caves, just having a map won't help you find or get into these locations.
* Invest some time
Experience has no alternative. If you want to excel in World of Warcraft you don't really have a choice other than spending lots and lots of time on it every day. Judging that a quest helper is good enough or not may take you one or two weeks and there is no way to shorten up this period.
* Know the must have features
Before downloading a paid or an unpaid version of a quest helper keep in mind the two features that are a must. These two features are the game map and the game guide. Without these features a quest helper is just dead software.
* Do not download helpers qualified as 'third party soft wares'
Keep in mind that the game does not like the helper but allow them, since they are compatible with the game's environment only. However if you download something that qualifies as a third party software, it will simply get banned. Blizzard have written protection into the World of Warcraft, which sole purpose is to find and report cheating software, a lot of 3rd party software gets detected as such, and you don't want to trigger the software.
